One of my N97 24/7 challenges was to create and upload a Local News at Noon using the Nokia N97. I was able to film two of them, one using Qik and one with the N97’s excellent video recorder. Qik is pre-installed on the N97, and the quality looks great!
In addition to streaming videos directly to the internet, the newer versions of Qik also store the files in the \Videos\Qik directory on the drive in which it’s installed. The videos are in 3GP format. Apparently you can get the best quality from Qik by recording in offline mode, which also lets you record when you’re out of 3G or WiFi range. Once you switch Qik back to online mode, it will seamlessly upload the videos you’ve recorded in the background. Multitasking Rocks!
Because we do not have WiFi in our hotel rooms (FAIL!), this embedded Qik video is one day old already. Check it out below. We have been using the N97’s exclusively; I’ve barely touched my laptop this week. While we can create Qik videos without a computer, and create blog posts with WordMobi, I’m still working out how to embed the videos mobily. Wordmobi is great, and blogging and connecting with only the N97 has been eye-opening.
