I was invited by Nokia to preview the Nokia N8 in New York City. Software is still not finished, but you can get an idea of how it’ll be like. They showed us how the Nokia N8 can be connected to an HDTV with surround sound system via HDMI. You really have to experience it firsthand, because I think it’s amazing. Nokia went on to show its other features like the 12 megapixel camera with xenon flash, multitasking, pinch to zoom in browser and photo gallery, USB on the go, multiple homescreens, homescreen widgets, and more. At the end of the one-hour presentation, I asked Ira Frimere, product manager, to summarize everything in a 2 minute demo for the blog. Related blog post is here: nokb.ly Overall, I think the Nokia N8′s 12mp camera with xenon flash and HD recording will be the major selling point for me. Those who hate Symbian will most likely still hate Symbian^3. The UI changes aren’t noticeable but that was already expected. The Nokia N8 will be available late summer of 2010 for EUR 370.
The N97 isn’t a device that will trigger knee-jerk hysteria, but instead it should breed cool-headed excitement at the prospect of a new era of mobile experience. Story to continue in conversations.nokia.com
